FAQ & Commission Info
Thanks for taking the time to look at the nitty gritty details of commissioned work, and shipping, and ugh... stuff. I don't expect everyone to look through these details with a fine toothed comb, but it does help a ton if you peek over what you can!
Everything is broken up into matching chunks, hopefully this makes it easy to find what you're looking for.
Shipping Info

I run this shop out of the abyss that is my basement, so orders are packed and shipped by me within 2 business days.
Commissions are also 2 days after the art is complete.
If there's a preorder or some other reason for a delay, a different timeframe would be communicated before purchase.
Commission Process

1) After an inquiry is placed, I'll contact you within a couple days to talk through what you'd like painted, what I can do, and when I have a timeslot to fit your piece in (usually within a couple days).

2) When all of the details are worked out, you can pay (see payment methods)

3) When your timeslot comes around, I'll begin sketching your piece and send you a photo of it. Here you'll need to give me all of your notes. There may be some back and forth if there are some complicated changes, but much of the time little tweaks will happen and I'll move onto painting.
4) Watercolors stain the paper they're used on. So once the painting process begins, there's no going back to make any changes to the plan.

5) I'll send you a digital package of the final product, which will include:
- a high quality, color corrected PNG file, or whichever file type you prefer.
- a couple shots of the painting

6) The painting at this point will need to cure and have a protective layer applied, then it will be shipped out within 2 business days
Commission:
Reference Photos

Getting the right reference photo(s) can be crucial to making a painting you and I both are happy with. Sometimes the reference photo is too dark, or has so much brightness that the details are washed out, in this case I may ask for another reference photo, just to make sure I can get the details correct. I can still do them in the original pose, or with the same expression, and the added detail will help a ton.
Commission:
Color Picking

If you already have colors in mind for a colorful commission, that's great! send me an example of the color so I know we're on the same page.
If you aren't sure, take a look at a color wheel!
I sometimes like to choose colors that are next to each other on a color wheel, OR colors on opposite sides!
Analogous Colors are next to each other on a color wheel. A green portrait may use yellows and blues to bring out highlights and shadows while keeping the main color green.
Complimentary Colors live at opposite sides of the color wheel, such as orange and blue. The darker of the colors would be used for shadows, and the lighter color often for mid-range or highlights. The big contrast can really make an image POP!
Commission:
Deadlines

Christmas cut-off in the US is hard to gauge, but I suspect that if a commission is placed by Dec 8, it would have plenty of time to arrive before the 24th.
There are many wonderful holidays during this season, so just try to give me a little over a week for the process.
Commission:
Physical and Digital Copies

When I finish a commission for a traditional painting or drawing, I'll scan/take photos of the finished piece. In some cases, you may only want a digital copy of the work. In this case, I will not charge for shipping, and the physical painting/drawing may be listed for sale.
Wholesale Orders

I'm not currently accepting wholesale orders, but I plan to open them up in the spring
Artwork Ownership

Artwork - I own my art, physical an digital copies. I can make prints, show online, share etc, and retain ownership.

Prints - Purchasing a print does not give the purchaser the right to reproduce more of my art. It's for personal use only, to keep or give as a gift. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.
Commissions - When I create a commission, I retain the right to use the created art for purposes such as advertising, portfolio, and personal use. I won't make or sell copies unless we've discussed it. It would be inappropriate for me to sell prints of someone's loved one. Commissions are also not made with the purpose of the buyer to recreate and sale copies. I will only release the rights for commissions in this manner with a contract, such as for logos etc..)
